SHIPPING: The shipping was fast considering that the box was coming all the way from Japan. It was shipped December 26th 2019, and delivered on January 6th, 2019; in total, it took 11 days to arrive! The box itself came with a dent or two but the items inside were perfectly fine and neatly arranged.
PRODUCTS / SELECTION: The December box was appropriately holiday themed! It contained a holiday Sanrio plate, Cinnamaroll spoon, Hello Kitty paper straws, Gudetama sticky notes, and Sanrio characters blanket! I liked the variety of items they selected, and the best part is that they’re all officially licensed by Sanrio so the quality is great!
The Sanrio Christmas plate is 19cm in diameter and made of smooth, sturdy melamine. The Cinnamaroll spoon goes perfectly with it. You can keep them as a display or maybe spice up your dinner routine and eat a good meal with them if you’d like.
The Gudetama sticky notes come in different sizes, each with a cute and unique design. I’ve always wanted to get into the habit of using sticky notes, but I was never able to get my hands on ones that are as charming as these! My studio friends oughta see these plastered on my walls.
The Hello Kitty paper straws come in a pack of 30. Though “paper” makes it sound as if they’re a bit flimsy, they’re surprisingly firm if you give them a good squeeze. With the impact that plastic has on the environment and ecosystem, it’s always a plus if you can reduce plastic use in your lifestyle - brownie points if you use these cute biodegradable Hello Kitty paper straws.
My absolute favorite item from the box has to be the Sanrio characters blanket. The fabric is soft to the touch and the colors and design are adorable. It’s modest in size, not too big and not too small. Growing up Asian American, a lot of these items were pleasantly nostalgic to me and there’s a certain warm comfort in being able to indulge in your childhood even just a little bit. You’d easily find a place for all of the box’s items around your house and daily life.
PRICE: The entire box is $31.50 USD per month for a 12 month subscription and the shipping is free worldwide! Considering that most of these items may be pricier and even impossible to find if you live in the US and have a certain seasonal exclusivity, I think the value is great! A small Sanrio plush from, for example, Kinokinyua in NYC would easily put you out of $15-$30. For that same price, you get 2 lifestyle items, 2 character themed items, and 1 high value item!
OVERALL: I was really pleased with the entire box and the quality of all of the items. The wide variety of items ensured that each of the items found a place in my home and life. In terms of theme, the holiday items were right on the dot! The team was very prompt, kind, and patient throughout the whole process, which was incredibly easy in itself. If you have the cash to spare, a YumeTwins subscription box could be a personal gift you could look forward to every month with surprises that are catered to your taste!
